Mixed media, in visual art, refers to an artwork in the making of which more than one medium has been employed.When creating a work of art using Mixed Media it is important to choose thelayers carefully and allow enough drying time between the layers to insure the final work will have integrity. If many different media are used it is equally important to choose a sturdy foundation upon which the different layers are imposed. An old rule good to remember is "Fat over lean." My passion is painting. As an emerging artist and painter, I am drawn to contemporary and modern art. My work is intuitive; colour is the language I use to express my feeling. I create acrylic paintings of varying sizes, colours, textures and materials. What is consistent in my painting is that in each artwork I experiment with colour, material and motion. The images and colours are derived from my soul and are inspired by everything I have encountered: from work of the modern American, Russian and European art masters, to the celestial and terrestrial forms around me, to cultures of the exotic lands I have visited. My style involves contrasting aspects of the simplicity of daily life to the complex elements of international affairs. I break the emotions arising from the events down into a dynamic mix of colour and motion. For me, the act of painting is similar to having a dream; the images I create have many interpretations yet are universal in scope. Hopefully my paintings convey a felt perception of life, an awareness of the history of art, and a clear expression of my passion.

aartcore / aart muis : interactive multimedia concepts and design
Aartcore / Aart Muis graduated from the Willem de Kooning academy in Rotterdam in 2003. With his final assignment he won the 'Drempelprijs' in collaboration with Pieter Bas Lugthart under the name d00p. He also worked with Eboman in the Sample Paradise, in which Aart Muis developed new interfaces for controlling audio and video in real-time. The project is SUWU3, a visual live drum & bass collective which performs all over Holland and abroad. He has also performed, and held workshops and lectures in places such as New York, Paris, London, Amsterdam, Utrecht and Rotterdam with different projects and collaborations. Aartcore / Aart Muis is afgestudeerd aan de Willem de Kooning academie in Rotterdam in 2003. Met zijn eindexamenwerk heeft hij onder de naam d00p (i.s.m. in Pieter Bas Lugthart) de 'Drempelprijs' gewonnen. Hij heeft ook samengewerkt met Eboman in het Sample Paradijs, hier ontwikkelde Aart Muis nieuwe interfaces om audio en video in real-time te controleren.
